A significant amount of used engine ran parts are lying around in shops and storages of users and
after inspections at outage have been deemed out of repair limits. These parts are labeled as not
suitable for (re)use by OEM restrictions or the OEM manual although they are often (easily)
Especially with the OEM dominated types of GT’s (for example, LM’s) these parts could be easily
repaired and reused if the manuals where to be slightly changed or adjusted to more recent
knowledge and experience on repairs and maintenance.
This cuts a lot of costs on new (OEM) parts and for third party service providers this would provide
the opportunity to be able to deliver cheaper refurbished parts.
